ACC Opening Weekend Preview

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Notre Dame women’s volleyball is back on the road for their eighth consecutive road game of the year as they travel to Florida State to open up ACC play this Friday, Sept. 23 at 6:30 p.m. The Irish will then travel to Miami on Sunday, Sept. 25 to face the Hurricanes at 1:00 p.m. Notre Dame has won four of their last five games as they head into conference play 5-5.

SETTING THE STAGE 

• ACC play is here! Notre Dame travels to Tallahassee, FL on Friday for their first ACC road trip as they take on Florida State on Friday, September 23 at 6:30 p.m.

• The Irish will then travel to Miami, FL to face the Hurricanes on Sunday, Sept. 25 at 1:00 p.m. 

HISTORY VS. FLORIDA STATE

• This will be the 20th meeting between the Irish and the Seminoles with FSU leading the overall series 5-14. 

• Last season, Notre Dame finished 1-1 against Florida State in ACC play.

• The Irish fell to Seminoles in four sets (21-25, 26-24, 16-25, 23-26) at home in September last season, but turned things around as they went on the road to Florida State. The Irish took down the Seminoles in three (25-22, 25-22, 25-23) in their last matchup on Nov. 21, 2021. 

• The Seminoles finished fifth in the ACC last season.

HISTORY VS. MIAMI 

• This will be the 18th meeting between the Irish and the Hurricanes with the Irish leading the overall series 9-8. 

• Notre Dame and Miami’s last matchup was Sept. 26, 2021, where the Irish fell in three (21-25, 15-25, 22-25) at home in Purcell Pavilion. 

LAST WEEKEND’S BULLDOG BRAWL

  The Irish finished the weekend 2-0 as they took down Central Michigan in their first three-set victory of the year (25-12, 25-19, 25-21) on Friday, Sept. 16, and defeated the Ohio Bobcats in four (25-23, 23-25, 25-21, 25-15) on Saturday, Sept. 17.

• Phyona Schrader was selected to the All-Tournament Team as she recorded 58 assists, 28 digs, and 13 kills in the tournament. Schrader also finished with a .615 hitting percentage and eight kills in the win over Ohio. 

  Freshman Lucy Trump finished with 21 kills on the weekend, followed by Kaylyn Winkler with 17 kills who recorded a .467 hitting percentage on Friday against CMU and a .471 percentage on Saturday against Ohio.

• Winkler and Lauren Tarnoff tallied a combined 11 blocks in the win over the Chippewas as Tarnoff recorded six blocks and Winkler recorded five.

• Tarnoff also finished with a .474 hitting percentage and 10 kills in the win over Ohio.
