ACC Baseball Championship Up Next for Irish

NOTRE DAME, Ind. — The Notre Dame baseball team will play in its second-consecutive and fourth overall ACC Baseball Championship this week in Durham, N.C. The Irish are set to tangle with second-seed Georgia Tech and seven-seed Duke as part of Pool B. The winner of each of the four pools moves on to semifinal action on Saturday, May 25.

Ballgames at Durham Bulls Athletic Park in downtown Durham begin on Tuesday, May 21. The Irish will begin on Tuesday for an 7 p.m. showdown with Duke. Notre Dame will then conclude pool play against Georgia Tech on Wednesday, May 22 at 3 p.m.

The Irish faced off with Georgia Tech in Atlanta on March 29-31 and dropped two out of three in a tight series with the Yellow Jackets. The team split the first two games and in game three, the Irish stormed back from a five-run deficit to take an 7-5 lead in the eighth. Georgia Tech had one last rally in them, scoring three in the bottom of the eighth to take the rubber match 8-7.

Duke was one of three Coastal opponents, along with Miami and Virginia Tech, that the Irish did not face this season.

Should the Irish advance, semifinals are set for Saturday at 1 and 5 p.m., with the title game on Sunday, May 26 at Noon.

All pool play games can be seen on ACC Network Extra (subject to blackout). For more information or to purchase tickets, visit TheACC.com.
