#9 Irish Return With Weekend Road Test At Northeastern

NOTRE DAME, Ind. — The ninth-ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish hockey team returns to action this weekend with a two-game road series at Northeastern (Nov. 12-13).

It will mark Notre Dame’s first series since splitting with UConn on Oct. 27-28. With the Northeastern series taking place on Saturday and Sunday, it will also open a stretch of four games in seven days for the Irish, who will return home and play host to fifth-ranked UMass Lowell on Thursday and Friday, Nov. 17-18.

NOTES TO KNOW

— Entering the weekend series with Northeastern, junior goaltender Cal Petersen has started 58 consecutive games in the Irish net dating back to his freshman season.

— The Irish are outscoring opponents by a 14-6 margin in the third period. Notre Dame’s 1.75 goals per third period are tied for second on the country with Holy Cross (BU leads with 2.00).

— With 16 points (7-9-16) through eight games, Anders Bjork is averaging 2.00 points-per game. Bjork is one of just two players in the country averaging at least 2.00 points per game.

IRISH POINT STREAKS & TRENDS

Andrew Oglevie has a career-long, six-game point streak (3-5-8).

Jake Evans has a four-game point streak (2-3-5).

Anders Bjork has a two-game point streak (2-3-5).

— Bjork has also notched at least one point in seven of Notre Dame’s eight games this season.

THE NORTHEASTERN – NOTRE DAME SERIES

— The Irish and Huskies will meet for a third consecutive season since Notre Dame joined Hockey East and it will also mark the 12th and 13th meetings between the two teams in the last six seasons.

— The series is tied, 2-2-1, in five all-time meetings at Matthews Arena.

— Notre Dame’s last win at Matthews came on Nov. 7, 1998 in a 4-3 victory.

— Last season in four games at the Compton Family Ice Arena, Notre Dame went 1-0-1 against the Huskies during the regular season (Nov. 12-13), but Northeastern rebounded with a Hockey East Quarterfinal sweep (March 11-12) en route to claiming the 2016 Hockey East Tournament Championship.

JACKSON CLOSES IN ON 250

— In the middle of his 12th season behind the Irish bench, Head Coach Jeff Jackson has amassed 249 wins with Notre Dame (249-158-48).

— Only Charles “Lefty” Smith has more wins as Notre Dame’s head coach (307-320-31).

OGLEVIE ON THE OFFENSIVE

— Sophomore forward Andrew Oglevie has started the 2016-17 season with 11 points (4-7-11) through eight games.

— Last season as a freshman, Oglevie totalled nine points (5-4-9) in 31 games.

— Oglevie’s offensive production has been boosted by increased time on the power play, where he has scored three goals and added five assists for eight points.

— His eight power-play points rank tied for second in the country heading into the weekend.
