Nov. 3, 2007

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Notre Dame’s ninth-ranked doubles team of senior Brook Buck and junior Kelcy Tefft will play for the doubles title of the 2007 ITA National Indoor Championships hosted by The Ohio State University at the Racquet Club of Columbus. The tandem will look to join recently graduated Catrina and Christian Thompson as the second Irish doubles team to ever capture an ITA national championship.

Buck (Yukon, OK) and Tefft (Enid, OK) defeated #14 TCU’s Macall Harkins and Anna Sydorska, 6-4, 6-3. They will take on #51 Lenka Broosova and Zuzana Zemenova from Baylor, who beat Miami’s Romy Farah and Caren Seenuth, 6-7(4), 6-2, 6-2.

Buck and Tefft made it to the semifinals of last year’s Indoors, captured each of the last two ITA Midwest Regional titles, won the ITA National Summer title in 2006, as well as five USTA national doubles titles together in the junior ranks. They improve to 13-2 so far this season. Baylor’s Broosova and Zemenova are both from Slovakia, and have registered a 12-2 mark this fall.

Sophomore #45 Cosmina Ciobanu (Brea, CA) dropped her consolation quarterfinal match to #8 Georgia Rose of Northwestern, 6-1, 6-1. Ciobanu falls to 11-4 on the season and 47-9 during her career.
