NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The eighth-ranked University of Notre Dame women’s volleyball team (23-2, 12-1 BIG EAST) rebounded from just its second loss of the season for a 30-13, 30-25, 30-23 victory against Villanova (20-10, 7-6) Saturday morning in the Joyce Center.

The Irish had several stars in the match. Senior MB/OPP Carolyn Cooper (Houston, Texas/Lutheran South Academy) just missed her first career double-double, ending with 10 kills and nine blocks for a match-high 17 points. Senior OH Lauren Kelbley (Bascom, Ohio/Hopewell-Loudon H.S.) led all players with 13 kills, while senior All-American MB Lauren Brewster (Brentwood, Tenn./Brentwood H.S.) had 10 kills on .455 hitting to go with seven blocks. Senior libero Meg Henican (New Orleans, La./Isidore Newman H.S.) led all players with 21 digs, while sophomore OH Adrianna Stasiuk (Park Ridge, Ill./Maine South H.S.) had 15, plus seven kills and five blocks. Junior DS Danielle Herndon (Plant City, Fla./Durant H.S.) served up a match-high three aces to go with seven digs. Sophomore setter Ashley Tarutis (Long Beach, Calif./Los Alamitos H.S.) led the offense to a .326 hitting mark and had 46 assists to go with eight digs, three blocks, and three kills.

Notre Dame will look to clinch at least a share of the BIG EAST Conference regular-season championship on Sunday, playing host to Rutgers at 2 p.m. (EST) in the Joyce Center.
