76th Annual Blue-Gold Post Game Notes

• The Blue Team utilized 37 players, while the Gold Team utilized 41 players – with 78 total players seeing action in today’s scrimmage.

• Junior-to-be Brady Quinn, today’s offensive MVP, earns his second consecutive Blue-Gold Game MVP award – as he was named the 2004 Offensive MVP. In today’s game, Quinn finished 8 of 12 passing for 120 yards and two touchdowns.

• Junior-to-be Trevor Laws was named the defensive MVP, posting four total tackles, 3.5 tackles for a loss of 17 yards and one sack for a loss of six yards.

• Saturday was possibly the coldest Blue-Gold Game ever. Game time temperature was 36 degrees with 30 mph winds out of the northwest. A light snow fell periodically during the game.

• The honorary head coaches for today’s game –

Gold Team – Joe Theismann and Tim Brown

Blue Team – Joe Montana and Chris Zorich

• Other top performers in the game, in addition to the MVPs –

Corey Mays had six tackles, one and a half tackles for a loss of three years and a sack for a loss of two yards.

Anthony Vernaglia led the Gold Team on defense with six tackles.

Travis Thomas led the Gold Team with 14 rushes for 63 yards, while Darius Walker rushed for 83 yards on 10 carries for the Blue Team.

Rashon Powers-Neal rushed for 51 yards in seven carries for the Blue Team and scored two touchdowns.
