#7 Irish Complete Fall Slate at Quail Valley Intercollegiate

Men’s golf goes for historic fourth win

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The No. 7 Notre Dame men’s golf team will be eying a historic finish when the Irish compete at the Quail Valley Intercollegiate to end their fall slate. The top-10 ranked Irish will be going for their fourth tournament win in five chances – no Notre Dame men’s golf squad has won four in a single season (in tournament fields of 10+ teams).

The tournament gets underway with 36 holes on Sunday, Oct. 20, followed by the final 18 on Monday. The two-day event takes place at the 7,350-yard par 72 Quail Valley Golf Club, located in Vero Beach, Florida.

Fans can follow the live scoring at Golfstat.com.

IN THE CLUBHOUSE

Notre Dame has competed in the Quail Valley Intercollegiate in three of the last four years. The Irish have never won the event, with their highest showing coming in 2017 with a fourth place finish. Last year, North Florida took home the crown with an 834 (-30).

IN THE RANKINGS

The 2019-20 Notre Dame squad boasts three different rankings inside the top-10 entering into its final fall tournament. The Irish are ranked No. 7 by Golfstat, No. 9 by Golfweek and No. 9 by the Bushnell Golfweek Coaches Poll.

PARTICIPATING TEAMS

The Irish will compete against UAB, Jacksonville, Lipscomb, Maryland, McNeese, Miami (Ohio), Michigan State, UMKC, North Florida, Rutgers, South Florida and South Dakota State.

IRISH FIVE

Once again, there will be no change in the Irish lineup: Hunter Ostrom, Davis Chatfield, Palmer Jackson, Davis Lamb and Andrew O’Leary. Ostrom, Jackson and Chatfield all boast strokes/round averages of 71.0 or below. When you add in Lamb, each of the four have achieved a top-five finish this fall, with Ostrom claiming two. Speaking of whom, Ostrom ranks No. 44 individually in this week’s Golfweek’s rankings.
