NORFOLK, Va. – The University of Notre Dame women’s tennis team closed out the regular season with a win Sunday, sweeping Norfolk State in a late-added match at the NSU Tennis Complex.

The Irish won at every position to move to 12-12 on the season. The Irish will head to the Atlantic Coast Conference Championship this week, where they will kick off competition at 1 p.m. ET Wednesday against Pittsburgh.

In doubles, senior Quinn Gleason and junior Jane Fennelly defeated Dajana Cvjetkovic and Ana Popovic 6-2 on Court 1; sophomores Brooke Broda and Allison Miller upended Andrea Machiavelli and Mafalda Lhorca by the same score on Court 2; and freshman Rachel Chong and senior Julie Vrabel bested Marta Gomar and Liza Gordeeva 6-4 on Court 3.

In singles, the Irish breezed to six straight-set victories. No. 50 Gleason downed Cvjetkovic 6-1, 6-0 at the No. 1 slot, while Miller defeated Gordeeva 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2. At the No. 3 position, junior Mary Closs beat Gomar 6-1, 6-1, and Broda cruised by Machiavelli 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4. On Court 5, Fennelly also breezed to a 6-0, 6-0 decision over Popovic, while Chong secured a 6-2, 6-2 win over Lhorca on Court 6.
