#5 Irish Host Hokies & Cardinals To Close Regular Season

NOTRE DAME, Ind. — After going on the road for seven of their last nine contests, the fifth-ranked Irish close the regular season with a pair of home games against Virginia Tech and No. 19 Louisville. The Irish meet the Hokies on Wednesday (April 21) at noon ET before celebrating Senior Day against the Cardinals on Saturday (April 24) at 1 p.m. ET. Both contests will be streamed live via ACC Network Extra.

  • The Irish and Hokies will be meeting for the 11th time on Wednesday with Notre Dame holding a 10-1 advantage in the all-time series and a 5-0 mark at home.
  • Notre Dame and Virginia Tech last met on April 7, 2019 when the Irish earned a 15-13 victory over the Hokies.
  • Maddie Howe led the Irish with four goals and seven points in that victory while Madison Mote added four points (3G, A) and Andie Aldave racked up 12 draw controls.
  • Irish head coach Christine Halfpenny was a four-year letterwinner with Virginia Tech from 1996-1999.
  • Halfpenny helped guide the Hokies to the 1999 Atlantic 10 Conference crown.

THE NOTRE DAME-LOUISVILLE SERIES

  • The Irish and Cardinals will be meeting for the second time this season and 14th time overall on Saturday at Arlotta.
  • Notre Dame took the first matchup between the two sides, 15-10, in Louisville back on March 21.
