#4/5 Irish Continue Road Swing at #7 Virginia

NOTRE DAME, Ind. — The #4/5 Irish return to action this weekend with a road ACC contest this Sunday (March 28) at No. 7/9 Duke. Opening draw is set for 1 p.m. ET from Koskinen Stadium and the contest will be streamed live via ACC Network Extra.

FOR STARTERS

  • The #4/5 Irish return to action this Saturday (April 3) with their third consecutive ACC road contest against No. 7 Virginia.
  • The Irish and Cavaliers are joining forces this Saturday for a One Love Game to raise awareness for the One Love Foundation.
  • Opening draw is set for Noon ET from Klockner Stadium and the contest will be streamed live via ACC Network Extra.
  • The Irish have won three straight games, including back-to-back road ACC wins over ranked opponents (#19 Louisville – 15-10 & #9 Duke – 13-9).
  • In last Sunday’s road win at Duke, Bridget Deehan made 12 saves and added a career- high six ground balls en route to being named the IWLCA and ACC Defensive Player of the Week.
  • After seven games, Samantha Lynch leads the Irish with 22 goals and 29 points and she has been named the ACC’s Offensive Player of the Week twice in 2021.
  • Savannah Buchanan currently leads the Irish with 17 caused turnovers in seven games and her mark of 2.57 caused turnovers per game leads the ACC and ranks sixth in the country.
  • Five different players have netted at least 10 goals for Notre Dame this season and six have collected at least 13 points in a balanced Irish offensive attack.
  • The Irish are ranked No. 5 in the IWLCA Poll and No. 4 in the Inside Lacrosse and U.S. Magazine Poll.
  • Notre Dame has been ranked in the top-five of 11 consecutive IWLCA Polls dating back to February 17, 2020.

THE NOTRE DAME-VIRGINIA SERIES

  • The Irish and Cavaliers will be meeting for the ninth time on Saturday in Charlottesville.
  • Notre Dame holds a 5-3 edge in the all-time series while the programs have each won two contests against each other in Charlottesville.
  • The two sides did not meet in the shortened 2020 campaign and their last meeting came inside Klockner Stadium on March 16, 2019, when the Irish earned a thrilling 10-9 victory.
  • The Irish closed that contest with a 5-1 run to erase an 8-5 deficit, culminating in Andie Aldave’s game-winning goal with 1:30 remaining.

DAUGHTERS FOR DADS/COMMUNITY SERVICE

  • Notre Dame Women’s Lacrosse annually dedicates a portion of their season to raise awareness and funding for the Harper Cancer Research Institute through their Daughters for Dads (D4D) campaign.
  • The program is currently in the midst of its seventh annual D4D campaign and its fundraising efforts include a virtual 5K.

  • In addition to the annual D4D efforts, the Irish are also fundraising and raising awareness for another foundation: No One Fights Alone (NOFA).
  • NOFA is committed to raising awareness and offering support for those in our communities battling all types of cancers.
  • For their contest vs. Robert Morris on March 6, the Irish participated in “Game Hair Havoc” and helped raise over $3,700 for the HeadSTRONG Foundation and families affected by cancer.
