KYREN WILLIAMS | ROUND 5 | PICK 164

University of Notre Dame running back Kyren Williams was drafted in the fifth round of the 2022 NFL Draft by the Los Angeles Rams. Williams, who was taken with the 164th pick, joins safety Kyle Hamilton as Irish selected in the 2022 draft.

A St. Louis, native, Williams is Notre Dame’s first running back drafted since Dexter Williams in 2019 and is the 34th Irish player to be selected by the Super Bowl Champion Rams.

A finalist for the 2021 Paul Hornung Award, Williams led Notre Dame in rushing for the second-consecutive season last fall with 1,002 yards. Williams had 14 rushing touchdowns in 2021, and added 359 receiving yards and three touchdowns through the air.

Williams concluded his Irish career with 2,153 rushing yards on 419 carries, with 27 touchdowns. He also caught 78 passes for 675 receiving yards and four TDs. He was a Second Team All-America by the Sporting News in 2020 and also took home both ACC Freshman of the Year and ACC Offensive Freshman of the Year honors.

Williams joins wide receiver Ben Skowronek on the Rams. Skowronek was selected by the Rams in the 2021 draft in the seventh round and saw extensive action for the Super Bowl Champs on both offense and special teams in 2021.

With the selections of Hamilton and Williams, Notre Dame concluded the 2022 draft with 522 all-time NFL draft selections, the most of any college football program.
