Nick Martin – Graduate Student – Offensive Line

On the progress of the team so far in preseason camp…

“We are trying to get better one day at a time. We are 13 or so practices deep and we are trying to at least take a small step forward each day.”

On the development so far of the team…

“We are doing a great job. We are seeing a lot of great stuff from the young guys. I’ve obviously been around the offensive line a lot and we have done some good things but we also have a long way to go.”

On how he would describe Ronnie Stanley…

“Consistency is the first thing that comes to mind. He does a great job with all the guys but when it gets down to it he gets his job done.”

On Ronnie Stanley’s ability to be a more prominent leader of the team…

“[Ronnie] is doing a great job. People look up to him. He is a great player and he has voice and is starting to use it.”

On how good this year’s team could be…

“We are just taking it one day at a time. We will see when Texas gets here.”

On his comfort level being back at the center position on the offensive line…

“I am more comfortable back at center. If I were to choose that would be my position. I like it a lot. I do feel good being out there and I think the whole offensive line feels good out there.”

On his ability to be a more vocal leader at times when the team needs it…

“I have been here a long time and I try to be whatever the team needs. If it is to get on someone or be that consistent player, whatever it is, that is what I try to be.”

On the theme of accountability with this year’s team…

“Ever since I got here, Coach Kelly has been talking about accountability and especially this year we are trying to hold everyone accountable.”

On Quenton Nelson’s progress so far in preseason camp…

“He is doing well. All the younger guys are making progress. We are just trying to get a little bit better each day.”
