NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Ticket packages for the 2009-10 Notre Dame women’s basketball season will go on sale Aug. 14 at two locations in the South Bend area, it was announced Monday by the Irish athletics ticket office. In addition to the regular Notre Dame athletics ticket office location inside Gate 1 (on the second floor) of the Joyce Center, Irish women’s basketball season tickets may be purchased at the Martin Luther King Recreation Center, located at 1522 W. Linden in South Bend.
Both locations will be open for ticket sales from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. (ET) on Aug. 14, with that being the only day Notre Dame women’s basketball season tickets will be sold off-campus at the MLK Center. However, these Irish women’s basketball season ticket packages still will be available for purchase at the on-campus Notre Dame athletics ticket office, which is open weekdays during those same hours, and also is accessible by phone (574-631-7356) or on the Internet at www.und.com/tickets.
It should be noted that this special Aug. 14 sale date applies only to potential new Notre Dame women’s basketball season ticket holders. Those fans who currently are Irish women’s basketball season ticket holders will receive a renewal notice in the mail later this summer and are reminded to respond quickly if they wish to secure their seats for next season.
For less than $4 per game, fans are guaranteed to see at least 15 home contests inside the newly-renovated Purcell Pavilion at the Joyce Center (including a matchup with defending national champion Connecticut), while also receiving numerous special gifts designed exclusively for Irish season ticket holders. Those amenities include: a reserved seat in the renovated arena (which will feature all chairback seating beginning in 2009-10), a distinctive “Spirit Patrol” season ticket holder t-shirt for every season ticket purchased, a copy of the official ’09-10 Notre Dame women’s basketball media guide (one per season ticket account), as well as invitations to exclusive season ticket holder events and special discounts, including the opportunity to lock in seats for next year’s NCAA Championship first- and second-round games at Purcell Pavilion (scheduled for March 21 & 23, 2010).
Pricing for next year’s women’s basketball ticket packages remains the same, with individual season tickets available at $58 apiece. The Irish women’s basketball “Fan Pack” of four season tickets is on sale at $162, with each additional “Fan Pack” ticket costing $29. These amounts do not include an additional processing fee of $20 per season ticket order (not each ticket).
Due to the already-high demand for Irish women’s basketball season tickets in 2009-10, as well as new capacity limitations resulting from the renovations at Purcell Pavilion, only 3,000 new season tickets will go on sale. Because of the construction project, seats will not be assigned until September, with the best available locations assigned to season ticket holders based upon the time of purchase. Thus, potential new season ticket holders for Notre Dame women’s basketball are strongly encouraged to buy their ticket packages right away when they go on sale Aug. 14. Single-game tickets will be made available for purchase at a later date.
“While our complete schedule won’t be announced until late September, there’s already a tremendous buzz about this team, both locally and nationally,” Irish coordinator of women’s basketball operations Stephanie Menio said. “It’s hard to count all the exciting things that are going on for us right now — having all 12 of our veterans returning led by all-conference guards Lindsay Schrader and Ashley Barlow, two highly-ranked freshmen joining our program including the national high school player of the year in South Bend’s own Skylar Diggins, the NCAA tournament coming back to Purcell Pavilion for the second year in a row, and the debut of our newly-renovated arena which will be among the nation’s finest facilities when it’s completed. Fans really need to circle Aug. 14 on their calendars now and make plans to get their season tickets that day because this promises to be a season like no other in Irish women’s basketball history.”
According to the final 2008-09 NCAA attendance figures released last week, Notre Dame ranked ninth in the country with 7,168 fans per game, the second-highest single-season average in school history and the ninth consecutive season that the Irish ranked among the top 20 in the final NCAA attendance survey. A winner of four South Bend Tribune Readers’ Choice awards, the Notre Dame women’s basketball program also was chosen as the ’08-09 recipient of the BIG EAST/NCAA Pack The House Challenge award following its sellout for the Dec. 7 victory over Purdue, the sixth capacity crowd (11,418) in school history and fourth in the past three seasons.
