15th-Ranked Women's Lacrosse Plays Host To University of Delaware

March 26, 2002

Notre Dame, Ind. – The 15th-ranked Notre Dame women’s lacrosse team will play host to the University of Delaware on Tuesday, March 26th in a game that will be played indoors at the Loftus Sports Center. The opening draw is set for 4:00 p.m.

The Irish – 4-1 on the season – return to action for the first time since last Tuesday’s 10-9 loss to 10th-ranked Cornell. In that game, the Irish trailed 8-3 at halftime before seeing their furious second-half rally come up one goal short.

The loss snapped Notre Dame’s 4-0 start, the best start for the women’s lacrosse team in the six-year history of the program.

Delaware comes into Tuesday’s game with a 2-4 record overall and a 1-3 mark in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA). The Blue Hens played Monday afternoon at the Loftus Sports Center, dropping a 12-11 decision to Ohio State.

Notre Dame and Delaware have faced each other once in the all-time series with the Irish taking a 13-11 win last March 31 at Nashville, Tenn.

The Irish come into Tuesday’s game having outscored the opposition 58-31 in the first five games. Following the game with Delaware, Notre Dame returns to BIG EAST action on Sat., March 30 when Virginia Tech visits South Bend. Game time is 1:00 p.m. with the site to be determined by the weather.
