NOTRE DAME, Ind. ââ’¬” The Notre Dame Women’s Golf Team travels to Norman,
Oklahoma, this weekend to compete in the 2017 Schooner Fall Classic. The Irish will look to keep up the momentum after they tied for a third-place finish at the Minnesota Invitational (Sept. 11-12), during which they set a school record for the lowest three-round team score in Notre Dame women’s golf history.
The Irish enter the weekend ranked #15 in the NCAA byGolfweek, and will look to improve upon last year’s sixth place finish at the Schooner Classic.
2017 SCHOONER FALL CLASSIC
Dates: September 23-25
Format: 54 holes (18 holes each day)
Location: Norman, Oklahoma
Course (Par/Yardage): Belmar Golf Club (par 71/6,046 yards)
Tee Times: Begin at 10:40 a.m. ET Saturday, 10:10 a.m. ET Sunday, 9:10 a.m. ET Monday. The Irish are paired with the teams from the University of Florida and Baylor University for round one.

ON THE LINEUP
Junior Emma Albrecht again leads the Irish in the number one spot this weekend. Albrecht tied for the lowest individual three-round score in school history (210) at the Minnesota Invitational, and placed seventh overall. Last year at the Schooner Classic, she finished 10th and carded a then-personal-best 211 over three rounds, a milestone bested only by her performance two weeks ago.
Junior Isabella DiLisio jumps to the number two spot this weekend, coming off a 10th-place finish in the Minnesota Invitational, during which she shot two rounds in the 60s to finish with an overall score of 211. Her final round 67 was tied for the lowest round of the tournament.
Freshman Abby Heck and junior Maddie Rose Hamilton will play in the third and fourth spots for the Irish after their steady performances last tournament. Heck led the field in pars for the weekend.
Senior and team captain Alison Snakard will tee it up in the fifth spot for Notre Dame this weekend. Snakard was named team captain last week by head coach Susan Holt. “It really came down to what player has the respect from everyone else on the team and Alison is clearly that player,” Holt said. “I think she’s proved herself. She’s a true walk on and she’s stuck it out and reaped the rewards through all of her hard work and effort. Her teammates really respect her for that.”
Sophomore Mia Ayer will play for the Irish as an individual this weekend.
ON SUCCESS
The Irish enter this weekend ranked 15 on Golfweek’s collegiate rankings after their record-setting score two weeks ago inked their names in Notre Dame women’s golf history.
“Confidence is huge in this sport. Individually, I think confidence is high but most importantly the confidence our players have in each other is high,” head coach Susan Holt said. “They are all playing well right now and that’s an exciting place for us to be at this point in the season. We have great, positive energy that we can continue to build upon from tournament to tournament.”
ON PRACTICE
“Practice has been good and productive. We have been focused on our putting, trying to convert more putts for birdie,” Coach Holt said. “We hit a lot of good quality golf shots and need to take advantage of them more when we get to the green.”
ON THE COURSE
This is the fourth visit for the Irish to the Schooner Fall Classic.
“We are going to a course that is familiar to us and have had good results on,” Holt said. “With the way we are hitting the ball right now I think the team will be able to manage their games very well on this course. It requires good shot placement off the tee, which is something we are doing well right now as a team. This is an outstanding field so if we can play smart and consistent golf I think we will be able to compete.”
NOTRE DAME UNDER COACH HOLT
Head Coach Susan Holt begins her 12th season leading the Irish. Over the previous 11 seasons, Holt has led Notre Dame to nine NCAA regional appearances and helped Notre Dame earn its first NCAA Championship berth in program history (2011). In addition, the Irish have captured four conference titles, won 16 tournament championships (team), had 14 individual medalist winners. Her players have also earned 27 all-conference accolades as well as the first two All-America selections in Notre Dame women’s golf history.
UP NEXT
After the Schooner Fall Classic, Notre Dame will travel to Lexington, Kentucky to compete in the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational, hosted by the University of Kentucky. The Irish have not competed in the event since 2009, when they finished third.
