Emily Voltz
Bio

Emily (Grant) Voltz will embark on her second season at Notre Dame on Coach Norman’s staff ahead of the 2024 fall season. The Doug & Lisa Jones Family Head Coach announced Voltz as the team’s Operations Specialist in July of 2023. Voltz arrived to South Bend after four seasons as the head coach at Wofford.

Year 1 with the Irish (2023):

  • 12-4-4 overall record
  • Finished with a national ranking of 16th with a final RPI of 15
  • Second place in the ACC with a 7-1-2 record
  • Reached semis of the ACC Tournament
  • Three seed in the NCAA Tournament where they reached the second round
  • 8-1-2 record at home
  • 2-2-1 record against ranked opposition
  • 4 All-ACC honorees with 2 on the ACC All-Freshman Team
  • 2 Irish drafted to the NWSL (Maddie Mercado and Kiki Van Zanten)
  • 1 signed with PSG (two-time ACC Defender of the Year and two-time First Team All-American Eva Gaetino)

Upon her arrival at Wofford, Voltz inherited a squad that hadn’t experienced a winning season since 2013. By her fourth and final year at the helm of the Terriers, she achieved just that, guiding the squad to a 9-8-3 finish. Wofford’s nine wins were also the most wins in a single season since 2000 (10 wins). Furthermore, they earned their first postseason since 2019, when they defeated VMI 2-1 in the opening round of the Southern Conference Tournament. Lastly, over her four years at Wofford, Voltz mentored a total of three All-SOCON award winners and four SOCON All-Freshman accolades.

Prior to joining Wofford, Voltz completed three seasons on the coaching staff at Georgia Southern. After the first two seasons as an assistant coach, she was promoted to associate head coach in 2018. She was a key piece to the recruiting and operational tasks for the Eagles. Along with coaching, Voltz handled off-season training packets, recruiting visits, ID Camps, and travel accommodations on the road. During the season, she coached the forwards and midfielders and helped run the in-season training sessions.

Before Georgia Southern, Voltz was at UNLV, where she coached for two years as an assistant coach. While with UNLV, Voltz was also the head coach of the U-15 and U-17 girls at the Heat Football Club in Las Vegas.

Going back further, Voltz attended Vanderbilt University in Nashville, where she received her Bachelor of Arts in classical civilization in 2012. Voltz also coached the U-10 and U-14 girls at the Tennessee Soccer Club in Nashville and helped guide the team to the 2012 Tennessee State Cup Finals.

In her time at Vanderbilt, Voltz was a two-time team captain and helped the Commodores reach two SEC Tournament quarterfinal rounds during her career. Voltz was named overall MVP as a senior and, following graduation, was captain of the Philadelphia Fever of the Women’s Premiere Soccer League in the summer of 2012.

A native of Adamstown, Maryland, Voltz also holds a master’s degree in sports management from Northeastern University. She and her husband, Seth Voltz, were married in December of 2022. Seth is currently an assistant baseball coach at Notre Dame.
